Calis Beach
- Calis (pronounced chalish) is a charming, small, quiet yet popular seaside resort with all the amenities you would expect, plus the added attraction of a seemingly endless stretch of beach, which is also where the local turtle (Careta Careta) population return to lay their eggs. Better still, it is only a 10-minute stroll from the Lissa Links villas. The beachfront at Calis has an attractively paved promenade lined with plenty of friendly bars and restaurants providing a good selection of international cuisine and a sprinkling of disco bars. This provides the perfect place to enjoy a cold beer or cocktail, and relax as the sun gradually sets over the distant peaks in the early evening.
Calis Beach is famous for its beautiful breathtaking sunsets across Fethiye bay. Here the warm sea offers safe swimming and for the more energetic, a full range of water-sports is also available locally. Calis even has it’s very own water park, which is conveniently less than a 5-minute walk from the villa, but is far enough for you not to hear any activity noise - perfect! Here, during the summer months, you can enjoy the use of the slides, pools and many other activities from 9:00 am through to midnight.
The Fethiye region has an incredible range of sights and activities:
For the nature lovers there is butterfly valley with it’s 70 different species, or, for those who like to make their own way on foot, this coast boasts some of the most exhilarating walks (check out both the Anatolian Way and Lycian Way). The Saklikent Gorge is also a must, with it's breathtaking sheer canyon rock faces and magnificent scenary.
For history buffs there are many historic sites including the ancient towns of Kayakoy (Ghost Town), Tlos, Patara and Xanthos. The whole area is littered with facinating sites remaining from ancient civilisations, including the Lycians and the Romans.
For the boat lovers there are boats galore, with fishing trips, boat tours and gulet cruises along the Turquoise coast.
For the energetic and adventurous, there is climbing, walking, mountain biking, jeep safaris, golf, paintballing, quad bikes, scuba diving, snorkelling, white water rafting and nearly every other conceivable water sport. To top this off, you can also go hang gliding and Paragliding from the local mountains either solo for the experienced or tandem for the novice.
Less than a 3-minute walk from the Lissa Links villa you will find a large well-stocked supermarket with a plentiful supply of good quality fresh meat, cheese, daily deliveries of fresh bread, milk and dairy produce, fruit and vegetables, and every kind of drink (including beer and wine).
The local Sunday market in Calis is also a 5-minute walk away, offering a huge selection of locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables the quality, size and colours of which we last enjoyed in the UK before the days of the EU. You can also buy cheese, eggs, fresh olives, bread or simply enjoy a freshly-prepared pancake and a glass of fresh orange juice. The market also offers all those genuine fake designer goods you often hear of, but there are many good quality bargains to be found also.

As you can see from the photograph, Calis Beach, with its sand and shingle beach, is quite extensive and all along the beach front are bars and restaurants almost as far as they eye can see.
